The Central Yard of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power purchased 500′ of 2″ Blue Portable Pipeline to be prepared for potential earth quake damage to water service in their area. They chose to purchase 100 foot lengths of Portable Pipeline and had each length coupled with Aluminum CamLok ends. The reel system was re-worked so all 2″ Blue Portable Pipeline with appropriate end couplings, adapters and fittings could be loaded on the reel system and transported to the job site at one time.

Because of its size and simplicity of operation the complete Hose Reel system is ready to respond to water main outages on a timely basis.

The maintenance personnel consider the HR Potable Water System to be an asset for the Central Yard and expect to purchase additional lengths of Portable Pipeline hose in 2-1/2″ size in 2002. When additional lengths are purchased they plan to modify the reel to include dividers and enlarge the system to accommodate additional sizes and lengths.
